Our review

★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

Celestial Seasonings Decaf English Breakfast tea lacks the punch breakfast tea drinkers love, but if you've got a small cup, it does the trick.

From Celestial Seasonings

What does Celestial Seasonings have to say about their tea?

This decaffeinated version of our classic English Breakfast black tea offers dark and rich full-bodied flavor with a smooth finish, minus caffeine. Our gentle decaffeination process uses CO2, a naturally occuring gas, instead of synthetically-produced solvents.

In the mug

Smells like you'd expect. The tea tastes slightly woody but not unpleasantly so. Teabags contain 2g of tea, compared with 3.125g in a bag of Yorkshire Decaf, so I started using two teabags for a mug to get a good steep. Although the taste was okay, even with two teabags the tea tasted a bit thin.

How is Celestial Seasonings Decaf English Breakfast decaffeinated?

Celestial Seasonings uses Carbon Dioxide to decaffeinate their tea (source), and they report that their tea contains 0mg of caffeine.

On the shelf

The box is wrapped in plastic and contain 16 teabags. The teabags themselves are contained in waxed paper and are not individually wrapped.
