Yorkshire Decaf
Our review
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Yorkshire Decaf is our go-to decaf tea. It's more widely available than other great options, like Barry's Decaf Tea Blend, and it's generally a good price.
From Yorkshire
What does Yorkshire have to say about their tea?
Say farewell to disappointing decafs! We've crafted a special blend of teas which don’t lose their character when they lose their caffeine, to make a flavour-packed brew for low-caff lifestyles and bedtime drinking.
In the mug
With 3.125g of tea per teabag, it steeps admirably and can handle a good splash of milk.
How is Yorkshire Decaf decaffeinated?
Yorkshire Decaf is decaffeinated using Methylene Chloride, which I find is the decaffeination method that best preserves a tea's flavour.
On the shelf
One thing to watch for is which decaffeination method is used for your box of Yorkshire Decaf. In North America, Yorkshire uses Methylene Chloride, which we find makes for a strong steep without any unexpected flavours. It's possible that Yorkshire Decaf sold in other regions uses a different decaffeination method, which this reviewer suspected of one box ordered online.
